The story of Rama and Sita recreated by three renowned Malaysian talents.

What’s Verdi (19^th century Italian composer) doing here? A classical masterpiece augmented by traditional musical instruments. And providing a powerful musical backdrop (Lagu Perang (War Song) to the fierce battle between Rama and Rawana. Alchemy happens when Sabera Shaik, Susan Sarah John and Kamrul Hussin work together. The last time they did this was in  2019, for the highly successful shadow theatre “Wayang Mak Yong.” Prior to that they were part of  “Puteri Saadong” directed by the formidable Odin Teatret director from Denmark, Tage. 

 The ancient Sanskrit epic, “Rama and Sita” offers infinite opportunities to implement the wizardry of these 3 “legenda” both from a traditional and contemporary perspective. 

Tiga Rawana will not be staged but story “told” via video using shadow puppetry. Except for the video “storyteller” everything else will be executed by the 3 artists. All 3 will be “dalangs” (puppet masters) who will also create their own versions of  “Rawana.”
